Welcome to Mrs. Burfield's Algebra 2 class! This is the second course in Algebra designed especially for the College Prep Student who has successfully completed Algebra I and desires the challenge of the College Prep Program!

 In this course we will complete Chapters 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 12 plus other related topics.

You MUST have a NOTEBOOK for this class!!! It will be checked daily. In this notebook you will keep: class notes, sample problems and assignments.

A three-ring looseleaf binder for this class is strongly suggested. There will be many handouts in this course and it will be better for your own organization.

As in every Mathematics class -- YOU MUST PRACTICE TO DO WELL.

We will, therefore, have homework nearly every day. Time will be given toward the end of the class period to begin these assignments. If you do not use this time to do the assigned work, you will forfeit this privilege. At no time are you permitted to work on an assignment for another course or to write "notes" to your friends during this period.

Assignments will be corrected and graded the following class period.

The grading scale for these daily assignments will be on a scale of 3, 2, 1, 0.

A total daily grade will be accumulated throughout each 9-week grading period.

For you to succeed in this course, you must be present in class daily. However, if you are absent, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to make up any work missed. You are to get all notes from previously missed classes from a fellow student and be prepared to show them to the teacher. Hand in all assignments missed within 3 days of your return. If you are absent the day of a scheduled major Chapter Test, you will make up this test on your first day back to class.

Unannounced quizzes will be given frequently -- so be prepared daily.

Announced major test will be given at the end of each Chapter -- worth 100%.

You must be on time for class and prepared with all materials required. It is expected that you conduct yourself in a controlled manner while in this classroom. Please raise your hand if you have any questions or if you wish to respond to a question raised by the teacher. Your attention and participation is essential for your success -- inattention or sleeping during class will result in a 0% for that day's participation and daily grade.

Daily assignment problems will be put on the chalkboard. Those students who volunteer to go to the board will receive 1/2 point EXTRA CREDIT for each attempt.
