The offical Mexico Travelers' Newsletter

What's New?:
 - The newsletter: I am going to try to publish a monthly newsletter to all of the students involved with the Spanish trip to Mexico in the summer of 2006.  Each letter will contain the following sections: What's New?, Fundraisers, Mexico Fun Facts, Games/Prizes, Q & A, Important Dates & Deadlines, and Notes from Miss J.  Hopefully this will keep everyone up to date on what is going on with the group.  :-)

Fundraisers:
- This past Friday, June 24th, we completed our first fundraiser!!!  We held a tag day at our local Wal-Mart Supercenter.  We had four shifts of workers from 10-6.  I think that the sombreros, maracas, singing and dancing really were a hit because it drew in an amazing $736.93 !!!!!!  ¡Bien hecho muchachos!  Everyone who participated will receive over $50 toward their account!  I know that may not seem like alot of money when the trip is over $1400.... but we have to keep in mind that each of you made $50 in only 2 hours!!!  That's way more than I make teaching you all!!!  (hmmm... I am pondering a career move...)

- Upcoming fundraisers for the summer:   bake sale, car wash and bag groceries day  (we do not yet have dates for these events --- we are awaiting responses from local buisnesses)

Mexico Fun Facts:

- A mexican jumping bean is not a bean at all!!!  It is actually moth larvae!  ¡Guácala!

- Mexico's Independence Day is not Cinco de Mayo --- it's actually September 16th!

Q & A:
- I will eventually use this section for questions that Miss Jamerson and I get from kids and parents.... hopefully the answers will help everyone out!!!  So start emailing us your "preguntas"!

Important Dates and Deadlines:

- August 30th: last possible day to sign up for the trip!!!! This is your $95
registration fee and your application (either by mail or online)

- First Payment of $400: thirty days after your registration date (or August 30th for
those of you who registered before June 15th)

Notes from Srta. J:
