STANDARDIZED TESTING
PSAT - This test is a practice test
for the SAT exams taken for college admission.
It is also used by the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Foundation to
award scholarships. It includes sections of Math, Critical Reading, and Writing
and is given during the regular school day during October. Click on the link

SAT – The Scholastic Aptitude Test
(Reasoning) consists of sections in Mathematics, Critical Reading (verbal), and
Writing. The overall test time is three
hours and forty-five minutes. Most
colleges accept this test as a part of their admissions process. The SAT program also offers subject tests in
specific areas, such as Biology, Spanish, Physics and others. Check with the admissions department to see

ACT - The American College Testing
program offers an achievement test, which measures knowledge and skills in
English, Mathematics, Reading, Science Reasoning, and an optional Writing
section. Many colleges accept this test
as a part of their admissions process.

PSSA – The Pennsylvania System of
School Assessment is designed to provide information about the quality of
schools to parents, school districts, and the general public. 11th grade students in our
district take PSSA Reading, Writing, and Math tests. Click the link for more information.
ASVAB – The Armed Services
Vocational Aptitude Battery is a series of tests given to all juniors in our
district. This test is used by the
military to help place recruits in appropriate career paths. You need not be planning a military career
to benefit from this test. The results
give each student and excellent snapshot of themselves, as well as
corresponding career choices. Click the

DAT – All 8th grade
students in our district take the Differential Aptitude Test. This battery of tests measures your aptitude
or potential to de well in several areas.
This test also includes a Career Interest Survey, which matches student
reported interests with aptitudes.

AP - Advanced Placement tests give students the
opportunity to take a specific subject area exam with the possibility of
receiving college credit based on their results. The tests are given in May. It is the decision of the college or
