Student will listen to a story being read aloud by the teacher. About 3/4 of the way through the story, the
reading will be stopped and the student will write how they predict the story
will end and why they predict that outcome.

Performance Question:**After
listening to a story read aloud, the students will draw a sequence of pictures
showing beginning, middle and end of the story.

Assessment Tool:** Work sample with scoring rubric.
Activity: Read
most of the skit "The Backpack Conflict" orally from Don't Laugh at
Me, Unit 3, Lesson 2. Students will predict what they think will happen
next. Read the ending and discuss their
predictions. Discuss conflict in terms
of an escalator. Use the script and
cut/paste each level of the given conflict onto teacher-made escalator
steps. Discuss what could have been
done to de-escalate the argument.
