Assessment Question:*
1. Paper/Pencil:**What skills are required in order to participate successfully in a group discussion?
Answer:**Speaking, listening and questioning skills.
2. Performance Question:**Divide the class into two groups. One group will be the interviewers and the other group will be the people being interviewed. The interviewers will be given a list of questions to ask those being interviewed. Students’ answers will be written on a questionnaire. Students would then switch places: the interviewers would become those being interviewed, and those who have been interviewed will become the interviewers.

Activity: Cut pairs of shapes from construction paper and randomly distribute one shape to each student. Students would then find the person who has a matching shape to discuss ways in which they are alike and which ways they are different. Have each pair of students draw a venn diagram on large chart paper and label the outer sections with their names and the intersecting part with the word “both”. Students would then fill in the information they discussed in the appropriate places in the diagram. Students would then share their venn diagrams with the class and display them around the room.

Resources for this activity: enough pairs of construction paper shapes for the class, paper, pencils, large chart paper
