Assessment Question:*

 

1.  Paper/Pencil:** What qualities are needed for an effective class discussion?

 

     Answer:**Taking turns, listening to others, keeping remarks and questions relevant, and responding appropriately to questions asked.

 

2.  Performance Question:** Divide the class into 4 groups.  Each group will hold a discussion on the topic “Selecting A Field Trip”.  The students will brainstorm possible locations for a field trip.  The students will discuss (using pros and cons) and then agree on one location that would be appropriate.

 

     Assessment Tool:**  Each group will assess all members in their group using the 4 finger rubric.  One finger will be raised if the member has demonstrated each of the following points: taking turns, listening to others, keeping questions relevant, and responding appropriately to questions asked.

 

Activity: Pair students up and have them interview one another regarding their likes, dislikes, interests, hobbies, and favorite things.  Students would take notes on this information.  Each student would then give an oral report to the class on what makes his or her partner special by sharing the information collected during this paired sharing activity.
