Assessment Question:
1. Paper/Pencil: What elements of writing are necessary in order to create an interesting and well - composed piece of writing?
Answer: The necessary elements are descriptive words and varied sentence length.
2. Performance Question: Create a descriptive paragraph about someone who has helped you in some way.
Assessment Tool: Vocabulary - Variety of word choices, correct use of word choices, and appealing word choices 0-3pts.
Sentence Structure and Variety – Variety of sentence structure, appropriate sentence lengths, concise, and length contributes to fluency 0-3pts
Rating scale - 3=consistent skill used 95% 1=infrequent skill use<50% 2= frequent skill use >50% 0=skill not used.
Activity:
Students will write an UPLIFTING LITTLE NOTE to people in the community that could use one. The note will be attached to a piece of yarn that has a balloon on one end and a decorated sand weight at the other. The balloon with the UPLIFTING LITTLE NOTE will be given out to members of the community
