Assessment Question: After reading and listening to Teammates the
students will be able to complete the following…
1. Paper/Pencil: Students will be able to complete a paragraph by filling in the missing vocabulary words. Students will also be able to complete an idea map and write a brief summary of the story “Teammates” using the information generated from the idea map.
Answer: Teacher’s Manual T347 and T365
2. Performance Question: Students will be put into groups to discuss how many ways we experience prejudice or hostility today. They will write five of the examples they discussed in the group on paper.
Assessment Tool: Teacher observation and peer assessment
Activity: Students will have their eyes covered and be asked to perform
a series of small tasks starting with something easy and moving on to more
difficult. After each student gets a
turn, the students will be put back in small groups to discuss their thoughts,
how they felt, and what they experienced.
This will then tie back to the lesson on Teammates. The blacks did not choose to be black or
discriminated against because of the way they were born.
Duration: 1 hour
Resources for this activity: Students will be required to bring a scarf or something from home to cover their eyes with and a set of clear instructions for performing small tasks.
