Assessment Question: *

 

1.  Paper/Pencil: **What skills are required in order to participate successfully in a group discussion?

 

 

     Answer: **Speaking, listening, and questioning skills

 

2.  Performance Question: **Students will be paired with a partner to brainstorm circumstances in which a student would be bullied or treated unfairly, how they would feel, and what they would do about it.  Students will also be asked to generate thoughts on how they could avoid conflict or confrontation.  Students will write their thoughts into complete sentences and attach a questionnaire to ask another student.

 

     Assessment Tool: **Teacher will correct questionnaires to make sure they are not all the same.

Teacher may need to generate different circumstances.

 

Activity: Divide the class into two groups.  One group will be the interviewers and the other will be the group to be interviewed.  The interviewers will be given a list of questions to ask the person they will be interviewing.  They will write the answers on the questionnaire.  After the first group is completed and the answers are written on the questionnaires, the interviewer will now become the person becoming interviewed so that each student is interviewed.  When this is complete the written responses will be placed face down.  Each student will choose a paper to read standing in front of the group.

 

Duration: 1 hour for discussion and writing questionnaire

1 hour the following day for presentations and group discussions
