Activity: The Torn Heart. Students will be given a piece of red construction paper and
be instructed to cut out the shape of a heart.
As the children listen to The Torn Heart” story about Pedro. They will crinkle their red heart each time
they hear a put-down. After the story
is completed, they will discuss how it would feel to be Pedro. Students will also be asked to come up with
things that could have been said or done to make Pedro feel better during the
story. Students will see that no matter
how hard they try, they cannot get rid of the wrinkles/creases that were put in
their heart when negatives comments were made, and they will see the importance
