1.Paper/Pencil:* What are these texts used for: (1) a dictionary (2) an encyclopedia, (3) a non-fiction book and (4) folktales?
Answer: (1) to find what words mean (2) to find information about a subject (3) a make believe book (fairy tale) and (4) a story passed down by words or written down by an author.
2. Performance Question:. After listening to the selection Sitting on the Farm and I Am Snow, the students will be able to tell what kind of text it is.
Assessment Tool: Teacher observation, oral presentation, demonstration
Activity:* Read the story Does a Kangaroo Have a Mother,Too?, afterwards have a discussion that the young animals have mothers that love them and take care of their needs relate it to their mothers do the same thing. Have them draw a picture of themselves with the people that take care of them. Display them in your room or bulletin board.
Duration: One 30minute class period
