1.Paper/Pencil:* What is the purpose of listening?
Answer: The purpose of listening, is to be quiet when others are talking or speaking, so they will understand the message and be able to ask relevant questions.
2. Performance Question:. Read the story “Listen Buddy” by Helen Lester. Afterwards, ask questions about the story. Such as, (1)Why didn’t Buddy do as his mother or father asked? (2) What happened when his parents told him what not to do when taking the walk?(3) Why did Buddy’s listening habits change?
Assessment Tool:
Teacher observation, oral presentation
Activity:* Being different – Read the story “The Rainbow Fish”, then discuss how it was different than all the rest of the fish. What did the Rainbow Fish do at the end of the story? The students will each make and decorate a fish and add a shiny fin to it. These can be displayed on a bulletin board or in your room.
Duration: One 30minute class period
