Children’s Education programs from Dickenson Center

          My name is Cortney Pahel, I’m a Program Director at Dickinson Center, Inc. I oversee our Children’s Education programs and am always looking for new ways to get information out about our FREE programs. I’m reaching out as our programs have a lot prepared for the next couple months and wanted to pass along to all of you to share with Elk County Families.   All of our programs are FREE to Elk County Families, and there are no income or developmental guidelines required to participate. That’s right it’s free to ANY Family  with children (ages very per program) that live in Elk CountyJ If you’d like paper copies of the attached fliers I’d be happy to mail/drop some off to you, just let me know.

 

  1. Family Safety Day Event May 22, 2021
  2. Dickinson Center, Inc. Parents as Teachers program is collaborating with several local organizations to host a fun & free Family Safety Day Event on May 22, 2021 from 10am-1pm at Benzinger Park in St. Mary’s, PA
  3. This is for Elk County families with kids ages 5 & under. Older siblings are welcome to attend. The event is FREE & will promote safety tips for families & their homes.
  4. A prize will be given to one lucky winner that attends!

  4. The Children's Center- DCI Parents as Teachers

 

  1. Coffee and Chit Chat is back with limited in person or virtual.
  2.  What is Coffee and Chit Chat? Coffee & Chit Chat is a free workshop for Elk County Families with children birth to age 5. They will have the opportunity to connect with other parents/guardians to discuss a variety of parent/child/family topics.
  3.          On May 14th at 10am we will have Trooper B. Morris from PA State Police attend and share information about Car Seat Safety!
  4.        On June 11th at 10 am we will be having open discussion about parenting tips and tricks to share with other parents/guardians.

  1. Parents as Teachers(PAT)
  2. Who:  ANY Family in Elk County with children ages 5 and under.
  3. WhatPAT is an evidence based parent education and family support program. This program is designed to enhance child development through parent education.
  4. When/where: Home/Virtual Visits are scheduled at a convenient time and place.
  5. Why: PAT is a free program that support and encourages parents throughout their parenting journey.

  1. Incredible Years Baby Parent/Guardian Workshops:
  2. Who:  Parents/Guardians in Elk County with  children ages 6 months and under  
  3. What: The Incredible Years baby series is an evidence-based program that focuses on topics such as “becoming a parent, ways to communicate with your baby”, and also offers support to families.
  4. When: Weekly starting in August for 5 weeks long.
  5. Why:  This is a FREE parent and baby group designed to encourage shared learn­ing of babies’ development through group discussions and video clips. Time will be allowed for parents to practice skills with their babies.

  1. Incredible Years School Age Workshop:
  2. Who:  Parents/Guardians in Elk County with children ages 6-12 years.  
  3. What: This series is an evidence-based program that focuses on supporting your child’s education, promoting positive behavior, and reducing inappropriate behavior.
  4. When: Weekly starting in September for 10 weeks long.
  5. Why:  This FREE workshops is designed to encourage and promote parent strategies and tips through video clips, and group discussions. This is also a great opportunity to connect with other parents/guardians in Elk County! Call and register today! 814-834-2602

  1. Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) Group Teen**NEW PROGRAM **
  2. Who:  Parents/Guardians in Elk County with  teens 12-16 years of age  
  3. What: Triple P is an evidenced based parent/guardian program. This program is designed to  give parents the skills to raise confident, healthy teenagers, and to build stronger family relationships.
  4. When: Weekly starting this fall for 8 weeks long
  5. Why: This is a FREE workshop to help parents manage misbehavior and prevent problems occurring through group discussion and video clips.
